Remote, wild and lovely, the Watch Reservoir, with its fishing lodge and visitors' centre, is situated in the beautiful Scottish Borders, surrounded by grouse moors and spectacular countryside. It's not unusual to see buzzards, ospreys and many other shoreline birds normally associated with more northerly parts. " A highland fishery in the Scottish Borders" is an apt description. The Watch, as well as being a reservoir of outstanding beauty, is one of the best and most attractive locations to spend a day's fishing in the borders.

BANK & BOAT FISHING
The Watch provides top class fly fishing for adults and children and is stocked regularly with top quality, hard-fighting Rainbow Trout. The Watch also has its own indigenous Brown Trout population. Both species fight very well and the average rainbow weight is one and a half pounds.
Fish rise and are caught all over the 120 acre reservoir with good, accessible bank fishing for those who prefer to keep on land. A number of boats are available for hire and a small amount of tackle can be bought and hired from the fishing lodge.
The most popular flies to try include:
Black and Peacock Spider, Bibio, Hawthorne Fly all Hoppers and Daddies, Black Pennel. Lures range from Ace of Spades, Montana and Cat's Whisker variations.
The Watch is vulnerable to extremes of the weather but on these occasions having to work for your fish makes success all the more rewarding.
The Watch is open from dawn to dusk from March to September each year (some winter opening may take place dependent on weather conditions ( please ring for availability).
THE FISHING LODGE
The fishing lodge, comfortably furnished and centrally heated, offers you the opportunity to compare notes with other anglers whilst having a relaxing break over a refreshment. There is a table license, together with hot and cold snacks, plus information on all other visitor attractions in the area.
